Too cute!

There are days I wish I had more money than common sense.
Really I do.
sigh....

Lovely...

So the one day I need to take monster #1 (and the md) to his class on the bus.
It is going to be frigid outside.
Lucky for us, we have a new snowsuit huh?
UGH!
Remind me that it is great to be Canadian again! Someone... anyone?

I miss The West Wing

Been watching a lot of t.v. in the afternoon.
Chef at large is a favourite lately.
Then...
The West Wing.

AHHHHHHH I used to beg monster #1 to be quiet and just nurse for an hour when it was on. Monster #2, I resorted to the VCR. Yeah, missed the entire last season whenever that happened.
Today it was the one where CJ does "the Jackal".

I wish politics, especially American, were this reasonable.

So very tired these days. Lack of sunshine is probably factoring in to it, but ugh ugh ugh! We may have hit a snag with our trip to MN. Seems that my mother may not be able to come in and take care of the boys after all. ACK! I really, really wanted to make one last pilgrimage to the US before we are annexed for good.

Now I'm going to go and listen to the clip one more time...
Nothing beats CJ and the Jackal when you're down!

Concordia or marriage...

That was a decision I made around a decade ago.
Today I was thinking a lot about how different my life may have been if I'd gone to Quebec...
This wonderful news only confirmed what I had "heard" around town more substantial. The midwife who went with md and husband to the hospital is leaving for this (may not be permanent move, but still!). And I believe more will follow.
Drat.
Yeah! for my most favourite Province, where my childhood memories reside...
Sniffling in a Bridges of Madison County kind of way for me...
You know a bunch of midwife bloggers have been dwindling away... some I know why, some I don't. Let me just say, if you happen to be reading this.
I MISS YOU ALL! Little glimpses into a life I had wanted to lead were kinda nice you know.
Suck it up, I'm feeling very self centred right now.

Going to bed now.
Feeling miserable and sending a note to the birth centre and midwifery consumers groups first thing in the morning! Its an election year, lets kick some butt here in the Prairies!

YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, January 18, 2007

Well then...

The boys decided to get up at 5:50 for breakfast this morning...
After the md spent the greater part of the early hours squawking at us... LOUDLY.
I spent most of last night in absolute ... hmmm awe, disgust... no something in-describable!

We never seem to get out much anymore I finally convinced ____ to go to Earls on the weekend. It had been over a month since we'd done that....

My husband having heard enough whining and sucking and stupid inane comments like (who is this Sharon guy?)... commented.
Well guess you ought to enjoy that while you can huh?

Soon to be a parent (again WHY?!) carpool gal responds with
I know Earls is the only place that you really don't have to put up with kids.

Yeah... there is nothing to answer that, is there?

Got to see my dad briefly, he is in the "big city" five days a week for radiation. A little knowledge really sucks.
...blue complexion, purple lips, hands and I can assume feet....
($*#^$&@$ radiation.
Gave him some cards the boys made for Grans birthday on Saturday. Got my package for mine... it contained two outfits for md, pj's for monster #1 and a video for monster #2.

My mother called in a panic about an hour ago... I FORGOT TO PUT IN YOUR GIFT!!!!

Not to worry mom. Dear husband despite being warned within an INCH of his life that I do get ANYTHING for my birthday... sent these.

Well then...
Happy Birthday to ME!

Break out the Birkenstocks...

I was right.
It is a balmy -16 with the windchill.
grumble

On the bright side it is supposed to cool off to around -30 wwc (with wind chill) by tomorrow afternoon...
Yeah, thats the stuff...

ugh.

Check this out!

Over at the latest doula blog... okay, so the latest doula blog to make it to my bloglines...
She has the neatest post on demographics/sociological outcomes in the population of our dear planet.
VERY COOL!

Should be balmy tomorrow...

I just gave the Hudson Bay Company the little smidgen of money I've saved up... to get the MD a new snowsuit. Because at 14 months, we simply can not squeeze ourselves into an 18 month snowsuit.... the beautiful down filled, machine washable, obnoxiously pink, make her look like a marshmallow in a cute way snowsuit.

sniffle.

Found a suitable (*read cheap) one to get us through this winter... if it still fits next winter... all the better! But you can bet I'm going to hit the sale at my favourite outdoor shop for the size three one I have been drooling over.

Penguins passed muster with the brothers.

Warmth is a must.

Should be back to shorts weather tomorrow.

Been a little chilly...

It was -47 C on Friday...
This morning it is only in the -30's.
Neighbour came over and said she would take monster #1 to school... woo hoo!
So this is how the middle monster and big dog are spending the morning... watching Curious George.

Which is better than when we got up and did this...

Because the coffe table is so much more comfortable!
Must go and bake something. Oven on... good thing.

Sick sick sick...

Still sick.
Monster #1 seems to be over the worst of it.
Monster #2 is barely eating, and oozing.
Md is generally oozing all over me. Because I'm not allowed to put her down.
Baby Esprit has been transferred to my city.
She is very, very sick. I saw her mom for about half an hour while dad took her to a doctors appointment. She went from there to the nicu, then today came by ambulance here.
Bah.
Still plugging away at the presentation. Yeah, time to panic soon.

Have mercy!

Well it is almost five thirty.
I've had about 40 or so minutes of uninterrupted sleep in the last ten or so hours.
Not good.
I have no voice (the little monsters made me sick too!).
I feel like death warmed over.
I'm exhausted.
Monster #2 and md are so sick it isn't even funny.
I've seen more mucus than a person should in such a short time frame.
I'm supposed to take monster # 1 to a birthday party this afternoon... it involves driving. I will not have a chance to nap before then.
This is not good.
I've just sat here and waited three minutes for husband to get up and tend to md. I've been up with her three times since the beginning of the hour. I'm done until six.
He is going to be in a foul mood by morning.
I don't care.
I'm not sure how we are going to make it through to pay day with money for gas... this was not such a great idea. I know that the cranky pregnant carpool gal will bail on more than her "fair" share of driving from now on.
I know that it will cause more financial issues come the time that she goes off on her mat leave (snicker snort... saw a show on the "mat leave myth" the other day. She will whine just like the women on the show! schadenfreude is perfectly acceptable!)... but really, at least then I'll know that a car is never an option and not make any plans.

On a somewhat happy note. We have everything set up to make chicken with 40 cloves of garlic in the new crock pot. Yup, the inlaws got us a crock pot. And much to my shock and surprise they were reasonable human beings this year!
Kids got neck pillows for car travel and folding step stools to aid them in trouble making on a higher level. A book and a small toy, nothing too fancy.
Md got this, two t-shirts and absolutely adorable slippers! Will try and load up a pic of them too.

It was so much better than last year.

Back to chicken and garlic. They should help make me feel healthier right? Chicken and garlic are good for sick people... right?
ugh.

*flipping blogger won't let me publish! OR save... bah, going to cut and copy to a blank page and hope for better blogger later...

New Years Traditions...

Like for the third year in a row, we have been without internet for the last few days of the year and at least the first!
Blech.
I am going to have a chat with our service provider shortly... when they open up. I wasted over an hour on the phone waiting for tech support in the last few days. This morning I give it the "one try a day" and here we are!

This afternoon the monster daughter gets to see the chiropractor! WOO HOO OUR CHIROPRACTOR IS BACK!!! Md is stepping a little oddly when she does decide to walk around things. So we are checking that out. Think I may be forced into buying her some shoes sooner than later... snicker, what heartache that will be.
So the New Year brings with it a mad scramble to get a presentation together...
*will be working on that rabidly in the next few days!
Removal of stitches tomorrow. Ice cream is most certainly in order afterwards!
Visiting with the in-laws and my parents... Yes, I was spared the dreaded in law visit. If I play my cards right, I might be able to avoid the whole shebang when we are out there...
On an interesting note. I realized that in the last year I've been witness, in person and in just listening, to three needed c/s. Three which were needed. whoa. What are the odds?
My ptsd is as variable as a manic depressive person. I may make one last kick at getting help. Then the nasty letter to the RHA will be in order.
Must go and clean up the stench coming off of md. And perhaps she will nap.
Heading back to parents this afternoon. Weather permitting.
So far it looks pretty good for travel.
I may even get to see baby Esprit if I play my germs right!
Hope everyone had a good new years eve.
We did absolutely nothing, in fact I was irritated to be woken by the fireworks. Yup, we be crabby about sleep 'round here.
